Dr. Sedric D. Veal, Sr. is a prolific pastor, passionate leader, persuasive orator, and educator. Dr. Veal is widely known for his practical and dynamic teaching style which helps people apply the timeless truths of Scripture to their everyday lives through preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Veal was born Wednesday, October 4, 1972 to the late Marsha Veal in Leland, MS. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Rosie McGill. He preached his initial sermon January 28, 1990 at the age of 17 and was ordained May 1990. Dr. Veal’s favorite scripture is “The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary” Isaiah 50:4.

Dr. Veal is a graduate of the American Association of Christian Counselors, and he possesses a Pastoral Studies certificate from Louisiana Baptist University. He received both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary. Dr. Veal is pursuing a Doctor of Religion at Louisiana Baptist University.

In 1999, Dr. Veal accepted the call to become the Lead Servant of the Temple Baptist Church in East Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Veal has served as a visionary and innovative Lead Servant. Under the leadership of Dr. Veal, Temple transitioned into her new edifice, a 44,000 square foot Church and Ministry Campus in the heart of East Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, October 22, 2011. He acquired & paid the mortgage in full in October 2019.

After the transition, Dr. Veal established a Food Pantry that serves hundreds of families/individuals monthly, a Social Development Ministry that aids members of Temple and the community it serves, a Community Evangelistic Weekend, which provides school supplies to over 3,000 families, and the Temple Bookstore. 

Dr. Veal is a nationally known preacher and lecturer. He preaches many revivals, crusades, and lectures annually throughout the nation. Dr. Veal’s commitment to equipping the saints and spreading the gospel has afforded him the opportunity to be featured as a guest lecturer at conferences, colleges, and citywide crusades. Dr. Veal has preached in the National Baptist Convention, USA ~ Parent Body, Late Night, Board of Evangelism, Moderator’s Department, and Laymen’s Department. He has also preached at the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. Dr. Veal has served in various leadership capacities in organizations.

Additionally, he has served as Co-Chairman of the Late-Night Service of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Former Chairman of School of Preaching – Church Alive Ministries International, inducted into the National Chaplains Association, and was the former Doctrinal Instructor for the Cleveland Baptist Pastor’s Council.

Dr. Veal is also a Title I Reading Teacher at the Broadway Academy School, Cleveland, OH and on July 20, 2020 he opened and became owner of the House Of Peace Funeral Home, Cleveland, OH.

Dr. Veal is currently completing his first book with Westbow Publishing Company.

Dr. Veal is driven to equipping the saints for the sole purpose of magnifying our Lord with a spiritual call to be “Fitted, Focused, Faithful and Fruitful” Romans 12:1-21.
